Public Notice of the availability of the draft Water Plan (Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers) and the draft Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers Water Management Protocol and Water Entitlement Notice

Purpose

Notice is given under section 46 of the Water Act 2000 that the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines has published a draft Water Plan (Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers) and invites any entity to make a submission on the proposal.

Notice is given under section 72 of the Water Act 2000 that the chief executive of the Department of Natural Resources and Mines has published a draft Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers Water Entitlement Notice and invites submissions from any affected person to be made on the draft.

Plan area

The Water plan (Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers) area is identified in the map shown on the department's website (PDF, 335.7KB). This map is indicative only. The exact boundary locations of the plan area are held in digital electronic form by the department and may be inspected at your local DNRM office.

Inspection of draft plan

The draft Water Plan (Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers); draft Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers Water Management Protocol and the draft Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers Water Entitlement Notice can be inspected in the following ways:

  • Viewing or downloading from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNRM) website 
  • By emailing the Great Artesian Basin water plan team on the details below
  • Visiting your local DNRM office.

To inform the public about the intent and the effect of the draft water plan, the Minister has also published a Statement of Intent which may be obtained from the locations detailed above.

Submissions

Anyone is invited to make a submission about the draft Water Plan (Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers); draft Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers Water Management Protocol and the draft Great Artesian Basin and Other Regional Aquifers Water Entitlement Notice.

You can make a submission by downloading, printing and completing the form included in the Statement of Intent, by email, or online at Get Involved.

Submissions must be made to the Chief Executive and received on or before 5pm Monday 17 April 2017.

Submissions should identify any information that is considered confidential. The department will endeavor to maintain the confidentiality of information that is identified in this way, however submissions are subject to the Right to Information Act 2009 and information may be required to be released upon requests made under this Act. Furthermore, other legal obligations, such as the processes of the courts or natural justice may also override confidentiality.
