Queensland Gas Supply and Demand Action Plan

We are developing a Gas Supply and Demand Action Plan (gas action plan) in response to complex economic and social challenges currently facing the gas sector and the desire to develop a strategic plan for the sector's future.

The Gas Supply and Demand Action Plan terms of reference (PDF, 165.3KB) were released by the Minister for State Development and Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham in July 2015.

Striking the right balance between gas production and environmental, health and safety, and social performance will be critical for the ongoing growth of the gas sector.

We have released a discussion paper to facilitate consultation with peak resource, agriculture, manufacturing, environment and community groups; landholders; traditional owners; and the general community.

This consultation will help develop the final gas action plan that will outline a strategic approach to the gas sector, now expected to be completed in mid-2017.

The discussion paper outlines reform ideas to maximise the supply of gas at affordable prices, and includes suggestions for addressing community concerns.

Providing feedback

The six-week consultation period is now closed and responses are being considered.
